As a job seeker, the key is to stay consistent! There is no set or specific time frame on how long it will take for the right opportunity to come your way. For some, it will be weeks, and for others, it may be months. Looking for a job is like a full-time job, and it can be mentally and emotionally draining. There may be times when you want to give up, and you think that maybe staying at that job you hate isn’t that bad.
So I’m going to share with you a few tips that will help you on your journey and how to stay sane throughout the process.
Create a Schedule
If you want to stay consistent you will need to have a schedule for when you will look, apply and follow-up on your job applications. Keep a job tracker as this will be a great tool to help with your schedule. To receive your FREE Job Tracker click link here.
Prepare and Practice
Remember the goal is to get the job so you should practice and prepare for each stage of the interview process. Don’t fall into the trap of getting comfortable with thinking you’ve completed one interview, so you don’t need to prepare or practice for future interviews. So do your research on interview questions for that position. The job description is a good tool to use as a guide for prepping for the interview questions.
Do something fun!
Plan an outing, watch a movie but make sure you make time for fun! The right opportunity will come so don’t forget to laugh and smile and enjoy time with friends and family. Family outings can also be an excellent opportunity to network and share the news that you're in the job market. Sometimes all it takes a good referral and your well on your way to landing your next opportunity!
So on this journey, you will have good days and bad days but stay consistent, and the right opportunity will come.
